Learning Center

In 2009, together with our partner organisation Heartbeat, Go Ahead! opened a learning centre in the Jozini region of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. With this centre we are promoting a sustainable improvement in the dramatic situation of AIDS orphans in the region. Through our centre, 667 AIDS orphans are being directly helped today.

lWhat does the Learning Center achieve?

Go Ahead! and Heartbeat have two major goals in supporting the Learning Center. For one, to provide AIDS orphans with a safe haven, psychological counselling, warm meals and academic support. And secondly, we use the LC to implement Heartbeat's training program for members of the community and social workers who extend the reach of our projects.

The LC's success in numbers:

  • 698 AIDS orphans and other yound people supported
  • 571 successful aid applications for children
  • 16 registered partner organisations receiving training
  • 722 persons participating in the training programs
  • 18 jobs at the LC
